It's the little things....

I was off Thursday afternoon and got to spend the afternoon with the boys. It made me realize how precious that time was. So often I spend my time off when they are sick, or I am attending a school function, etc. and I seldom just get the time to be at home during the week (with no one sick :)). We spent about three hours outside and I enjoyed just watching everyone play. Here are some photos of them hard at play:

Here comes double trouble...

The boys just love watching the farmer Harvest and bale the Wheat straw

Who goes there? This usually gets people's attention when they drive in the driveway. Collin gets a big kick out of it. We saw these while visiting cousins in the mountains

Do you think he likes it?

Life is about change

The one thing I've come to learn (and I hope my children can learn earlier than I did) is that life is about change. Just when you get comfortable, the winds will shift and you will find yourself on new unfamiliar ground. This is one of those times. Our daycare provider told me yesterday that July 3rd will be her last day with us. I have two weeks once again to find childcare for our children. How do you find someone who will love the children, care for them, someone you can trust? Please pray for our family as we go through this difficult time of deciding what is best for our family. I hope the scripture I read this morning will help you today as it helped me:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28

God doesn't promise us a life of ease, but we do get to share our yoke or our burdens with him. That is what gets me through times like these. For if I had to rely on my own strength, I could not make it very far.

Tubing

On Saturday Jim took Tristan and Collin to the lake. Chuck brought his son Tyler and they went out on Chuck's boat. Ironically, this was my first boat. Chuck bought it from Jim and I when we got married. Chuck has been great for that boat, the fact that it still runs is proof. Any guesses on what I named my first boat? NO KIDS. Pretty funny, huh? Life has a way of changing your mind in a big way.

The guys went very slow when pulling the kids on the intertube. This was their first time tubing and they had a blast. Even at 10:00 last night Collin was asking if Chuck could come over and he go out on the lake in his boat :) When Tyler was waterskiing and would go down, the boat would stop and the first thing Collin would ask is "Is it time to swim now?"

Tyler rode with the boys to help them

UMM, Good

The Davis boys learn young what the sound of the mixer usually means...frosting.
The twins were saying "Mmmm" as they licked the beaters off :)

Here's a picture of the cake that at least part of the icing made it on :) ...

Happy Father's Day

I know it was yesterday, but it would not be me if it weren't late I just didn't want the day to pass by without telling everyone what a great father my husband is. Whenever we are around someone who hasn't seen him with our children before, they are literally amazed. I cannot tell you how many women have come up to me and told me how lucky I am. For many, their husbands were decent men, they just didn't do much with the children. Many of you know how Jim is. He doesn't hesitate to be an equal partner in the care of the children. With four little guys, it takes both of us. Jim is right there to play with the children, to give them their bath, to just show them each and every day how much they mean to him. Nothing makes me smile like hearing him wrestle with the boys in the evening. I will often be in the kitchen busy cooking dinner or throwing in a load of laundry, and just the sound of laughter brings a smile to my face. He can make them laugh like no one else can. The twins faces just light up when he pulls in the driveway. Shouting "Daddy, Daddy" and all 4 boys go running. I could not ask for more. I love him for so many reasons, but having these boys and watching him love and care for them makes me so proud to call him my husband. So, here's to you babe. Thank you for being there for all five of us. I don't know anyone who could take on that challenge and do it as well as you do. If my own dad were here, he too would be so proud of you. No one could love his daughter or grandkids more than you do. We love you more than words or gifts could possibly say.

Our Trip to the Fire Department

On Saturday we went to a fire department with a mommy group I just joined. The boys were in awe and really enjoyed learning about the trucks and getting the tour of the firehouse. Collin would not go up to the fireman once he was fully dressed however. Our fearless one was afraid (can you believe it?) Here are some pictures of the day:

Inventive Ways to get food in your mouth

Tired of picking up that heavy ear of corn? Nathan has a solution for you:

Tired of using a pesky spoon to eat your yogurt? Try your hand, it's a little messy but it sure gets the job done!

The last day of first grade :(

There are parts of me that are so glad the year is over, but other parts that are so sad. I cannot believe he is going to be a second grader. Where does the time go? And I cannot say enough about Mrs. Johnson, I hate to see the year end with her, she is such an amazing woman. Here's a picture of my big guy getting on the bus for the last time this year. Maybe I can find a picture of his first day and post later as well. It would be neat to see the changes in one year...He wanted to take his baseball trophy to school to show the class. It is the biggest trophy he has he will remind you. :)

Such a handsome guy!

Outdoor Fun

The past weekend was really hot, 100 degrees. To help the boys cool off, we pulled out the water slide. The only one who wasn't too sure about the water slide was Nathan. We also put a new battery in their gator and they had a blast!

Something I hope I don't see when they are teenagers!

The twins are so funny in the gator. They have figured out how to step on the "gas" pedal, but do not know how to steer. So, they basically go forward until they run into something. This time, it was the sandbox!

Jim was splashing the kids with water outside and I happened to get one of his drenchings on film:

Anytime is a good time for a water fight!

On Saturday, Tristan's ball team had their end of season party at Mayo Lake. All the boys had fun swimming in the lake and getting into water gun fights with the team. Another mom took pictures that I hope to get and post soon. Here is a picture of the cake I made for his team:

Here is another cake I made for a friend who was throwing a surprise birthday party for a teenager. This was the first time I worked with fondant, but it wasn't too hard, I had fun doing the cake and it is one of my favorite cakes so I had to share it here:

LOOK! Girls are at the Davis Household!

It looks like the only ones who can have girl babies at the Davis household are the dogs! Of course, we weren't looking to expand the family, so a good trip to the Vet might be in order to prevent such a recurrence.

Buster is Back!

The twins are on a "sleep strike". Dalton woke up at 6:00 a.m. and Nathan before 7:00. I quickly changed them and Tristan helped me get the wagon ready so I could pull them down to the end of the driveway for Tristan to catch the bus. Dalton waved and told Tristan "bye bye" which was very cute.

Tristan is such a good big brother. He has really started to help out with the twins and loves to hug on them and love them and has started to get really protective of them. Normally the twins are just waking up as I am returning from the bus pickup, so it was a little challenging getting everyone set and to the bus on time! Here are the cute little munchkins after our morning jaunt.

When we went outside we had a great surprise, Buster was visiting us! He lives down the road and we have not seen him for a couple of months. He was hurt pretty badly when some nasty dogs in the neighborhood attacked him. We called his "parents" and they came and got him a couple of months ago and we had not seen him since. We had started to worry that Buster was no longer with us. But today he returned looking better than ever. He was so excited to see us! Dalton loved him. Dalton would hold onto his back side and Buster would wag his entire back side with Dalton moving right along with him.

When Jim got home he and the kids fed Buster some animal crackers. Buster would speak and the kids would get just as excited as he did.

Abe Lincoln and His little brother

The night ended when Abe Lincoln and his sidekick showed up in the bathtub. What they don't think of!

Lady and the Tramp

It was a night of celebrities at the Davis household. Lady and the Tramp made their appearance on the deck. Much like the children, they wait until we are not looking to get into mischief.
