A Collin Moment...


Tristan and Collin spent the night with our friend Doug the other night for the first time. Collin has not really spent much time away from home so I enjoyed hearing the stories of the evening from Doug. Here is my favorite:


Collin: "Doug, do you have any cookies or chocolate milk?"


Doug: "Nope, I'm sorry buddy, I don't have any"


Collin: "Well the next time you better be prepared when I come to your house and you better get some chocolate milk and some cookies"

Collin: "Nope, but I pooted and it was quiet!"

All in a day

I was talking to one of my single friends last night about my daily routine. It was kind of funny because I hadn't thought much about it before, but my life is very different as a mom of four. Before children, I would take up to 1 1/2 hours to get ready. All the hair primping, jewelry, etc. Now I have it down to about 25 minutes, including my shower! No primping allowed! My time in the morning is spent trying to keep on top of things. I thought I would share what I usually accomplish each morning. I try to get up at 5:30 or 5:45 to get it all done. Here is the partial list:

- wipe down counter tops, stove, microwave
- sweep and quick mop kitchen floor
- sweep and quick mop the dining room
- clean the highchairs
- pick up the living room
- vacuum the living room
- fold and put away at least one load of clothes
- wash and put another load in the dryer
- clorox wipe the bathroom



Then I take a quick shower, get myself ready, and by then the twins are up and need to be changed and have a juice, etc. Evenings are spent feeding, bathing, and spending time together. I just do not remember how I spent my evenings in my "former life" :) What did I do with all that time? Did I get to read books, watch tv? I know one day when my children are all grown I will once again have free time. I will then miss doing all the things I use to do for them. Ironic isn't it? The grass always looks greener on the other side :)



I have a great husband and cannot imagine how we would get it done if we didn't work together. He takes care of the dishwasher and the trash and getting the twins their bath (plus a nightly ritual of wrestling!). A family of six makes a lot of dirty dishes and clothes! I told my friend last night to multiply her laundry times six. She could not imagine!



It is nice to be getting back to "normal" this week. Here are some photos of the week:

The boys love working out in the yard with Daddy. I had to get this little wheelbarrow at Walmart when I found it. They will have a ball working with Daddy!

A busy week!

Wow, what a busy week! We have vacation bible school at our church this week. I am helping to teach Tristan's class (those who completed 1st or 2nd grade). I usually teach Collin on some Sunday nights, so I wanted to be fair and be with Tristan this week. We have had anywhere from 13 to 17 kids each night and boy has it been wild, but a lot of fun. The twins also went for the first time last night. They had a cold Sunday and Monday and had trouble with their breathing so they didn't get to go the first couple of nights. I have had to hide when I see them at VBS so they don't want to come to me. It's kind of hard when I'm walking our class in and they are walking out, it get's quite interesting!

Annette started this Monday. I felt bad that her first day was so rough. The twins needed a few breathing treatments on the first day and were quite cranky because they didn't sleep much Sunday night. They all came through just fine though and she has even started a blog with pictures that she takes each day.


I've been trying to grab the camera and take pictures when the twins are doing something I want to capture, but usually they stop just as I start filming! I shot this quick video of them babbling:

It was a busy cake week as well. I made three 9 x 12 cakes for the kids at bible school, and I made a birthday cake for my friend at work. I have one more cake due on Saturday. I think I will be ready to sleep at the end of the week :) Here's a picture of my friend's cake:

More Beach Photos

I keep thinking of our vacation and how great it was to all be together and doing nothing but having fun. Amazing how one week in your life can make such a difference in your spirit and your outlook. Ironically, neither Carolyn or I carried our camera down to the beach so we don't have a single picture of us at the beach, just at the pools, the room, and at the aquarium. Had to share a few more of our memories in pictures...







Nathan just loved the water slide, our little daredevil. You had to watch him close or he would be up the stairs trying to go himself!

It was a little scarey when the tube would tip over at the bottom of the slide. Luckily it only happened a couple of times because Daddy was very good at it. Each time the babies came up laughing and held their breath. Little Daredevils!






One night in the room, the twins disappeared and got very quiet. That is always a sign of trouble. We began searching for them when I heard Carolyn holler out "Oh no, you might not want to come back here Sharon." She opened the door to her bedroom and seen something like this:






How smart are they? They worked together to kidnap the Nestle Quik Chocolate Milk Powder, went to the bedroom that gets the least traffic, closed the door and proceeded to help themselves! Carolyn said the look on their faces was clearly "ut oh, we are busted!" :)

Beach Trip 2008

What a fantastic week! We went to the beach with cousins and had an absolute blast as usual. There is nothing like a week at the beach. A solid week of fun, family time, and relaxation. It's funny how "work" at the beach doesn't feel like so much work. Carolyn and I washed at least 3 loads of laundry a day, fed 11 people at each meal, and kept a condo pretty organized for one week, yet it all just came together. I'll try to write more stories later, I wanted to at least post a few photos of the week...

We celebrated the twins' 2nd birthday at the beach. I bought two small baskin robbin's ice cream cakes and they loved them. Here are a few of the cute pictures!

New Beginnings

Last Friday was Jessica's last day with the boys. I know that they will always cherish the time they had with her and with her family.

Carolyn is here watching the boys this week and next week we are all at the beach. YEAH, cannot wait!



Annette will be watching the boys starting on July 28th! We are all very excited. Annette was our first daycare provider and she kept Tristan for the first five years of his life and Collin for his first couple of years as well. She has an amazing gift for working with children. She plans lots of activities and crafts and they learn so much from her. Not to mention Tristan is excited about his best bud Caylee getting to be at his house every day! The Scalping



As you may know, life is never dull at the Davis household. Jim took the boys out on Saturday to run some errands and to allow me to steam clean the carpets. When he got back I had a little surprise. He had taken all the boys to get a haircut. Not that they didn't need it mind you, but one of my main desires for their haircuts is that I don't see the skin on their scalp. Don't ask me why, just one of my hangups. When they walked in the room Jim said the anger in my eyes just flashed. He said he let them use the wrong clipper, I could see it happening on one twin, but both? Daddy was in the dog house on that one. He can't talk...when I once cut off my hair in the beginning of our marriage, he would not speak to me for two days. Oh well, it is just hair and it will grow back. In the meantime, my twins look like little redneck toddlers. I share these pictures only for you to feel my pain :)
